VIXL REFERENCE WIKI

The vocabulary
behind the show.

Short definitions for the platform terms that matter in the room. This is a product reference, not a claim that every forward architecture capability is currently shipping.

01

What is ViXL?

ViXL is a real-time media control and rendering platform. ViXL Lite is its browser product. A ViXL App is a packaged capability used within a show—not simply a browser page or a video switcher.

02

Layers and recall

Layers are persistent composition slots with stable identities. A Composition defines their order and target state. Recalling it reconciles current Program instead of blindly rebuilding everything.

03

Ready means ready

Content that needs time to load must warm before it can be taken. Auto Take, if enabled in the future, must never bypass READY.

Preparation sequence →
04

Transition Apps

A Transition App is a first-class App category. It receives a prepared FROM frame, TO frame, deterministic progress, parameters, and host timing to render the in-between frame.

05

Media management

The platform direction is to reference immutable, versioned ViXL-managed assets—not permanent machine-local paths. Deployment should verify, stage, warm, and then activate.

Availability boundary →
06

Show Network

The forward architecture treats a show as independent of a single control machine. Participants can include control clients, render nodes, outputs, and information consoles.

IMPLEMENTED VS. INTENDED

Architecture is not a shipping claim.

Native Bridge output, offline Pro, Show Network redundancy, Unreal rendering, NDI, mapping, and Enterprise are forward paths until they are verified in a released build. The manual focuses on the Lite operator model and always points to the release-specific evidence needed for public claims.
